Breaking Ground

Sunday, April 13th was Bible Baptist Church's 29th Anniversary. We celebrated with a great Homecoming service and just before Sunday Dinner in the fellowship hall we did something very exciting. WE BROKE GROUND on the new Gymnasium!

Soon a Silt fence will be in place and the grading and site work will begin.

Things are beginning to Roll...

Here is an update from Pastor Parrish...

We picked up the Septic Tank permit and they gave us a house size drain field as we have with the other two tanks. This will be much less expensive than it could have been.

Pray about the City and a Plumbing contractor for the water tap for the Fire sprinkler system. I have done some horse trading with the general contractor and have the $10,500 Fire Alarm system that is required figured into the original contract price of $653,500.

The City may not require a $5,000 tap fee for the Fire Sprinkler since it is for Fire use. So the cost of the line is our only concern now and we have that factored into the $100,000 above the contract price which includes $35,000 for the gym floor and septic and Water line etc.

We have the initial permit for site work to be done and the slab poured with plumbing etc but we can't go much farther until the drawings for the water line and tap are approved by DHEC Columbia and that is sometimes a lengthy process so If you remember this in prayer I will appreciate it.

Contract Signed!

Bible Baptist Church signed a contract this week with MCON Construction to build a gymnasium!

Pastor Parrish reports...

"We signed a contract with MCON Construction and I meet with the bank Thursday.
We plan to borrow $250,000 and we have $521,000 in the building fund.

This should do a turn key job with Building from MCON $653,000 then allowances for: Septic $10,000 and City water tap and line for the sprinkler (4-6inch depending on pressure) about $20,000 or a little more.

$35,000 for the gym floor and goals and $10,500 for the Fire alarm system tied to the sprinkler system.

2-3% for overages or change orders $750,000 which Praise God is over $50,000 less than we were prepared to go. We actually voted Jan. 2007 to build and borrow up to $300,000 for the project. We have been depositing $3,000 a month into the building fund in lieu of a payment."

Bids Coming in

During our monthly Business Meeting Sunday night it was reported that two bids have come in so far. Two more are expected soon. The good news is the two that have come in are under budget!

Please continue to pray for wisdom in deciding which company to go with and the further details that need to be considered.

A Praise Report

Tuesday evening our plans were approved by the Fort Mill Planning Commission. The next step is approval from the Architectual Board. This should be a minor step. One contractor has looked over the project. There will be three bids requested from contractors.

Thanks for praying as this project takes off!

Update 1-18-2008

The plans came in and have been approved by the Finance Committee. We submitted them to the Planning Commission of Fort Mill in December and they requested some changes. The plans were sent back and the changes were made.

The next meeting will be January 22nd which hopefully will result in approval and we can begin requesting bids for construction. Please be in prayer for this approval
